June Solstice 2023
Solar Event
The June Solstice usually occurs between June 20 and 22 each year, when the Sun reaches its farthest point north of the celestial equator. This is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day in the Southern Hemisphere.

On this day, the Sun shines almost directly overhead at the Tropic of Cancer, giving the Northern Hemisphere its highest amount of sunlight and warmth for the year. Meanwhile, the Southern Hemisphere experiences its shortest daylight period.

The June Solstice marks the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
On this day, the Sun rises far in the northeast and sets in the northwest. The distance between the sunrise and sunset points is greater than on any other day of the year.
